Completed in 2023, the Hattie Redmond Apartments provides 60 units of Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) in the Kenton neighborhood for people exiting homelessness. Located in the historic center of Portland’s Black/African American community, the Hattie Redmond is a collaboration between Home Forward and the Urban League of Portland, dedicated to serving individuals who have experienced homelessness and request culturally specific services for African Americans.
The building is named for Harriet “Hattie” Redmond, a Black activist and Oregon resident who fought for women’s suffrage and civil rights in the early 20th century. Located directly on the Yellow MAX line to Downtown and near frequent service bus lines, with a full-service grocery store and Kenton town center are also within walking distance, the project connects residents to services, opportunity, and neighborhood amenities. Project features also include a community room, laundry facilities, common kitchen and pantry, outdoor plaza, and more. Residents also receive on-site property management and client-centered supportive services provided by Urban League and Home Forward.
